Loader cranes by Furukawas Unic Corporation, Japan, are known worldwide under the brand UNIC. UNIC cranes are hydraulic cranes with a full-circle telescopic jib and a cable-suspended hook.
Unlike cranes that have no cable suspension for the handling device, UNIC loader cranes have the following advantages:
- Simple design: less nodes and knuckles means less wear-exposed parts, therefore, better reliability and cheaper maintenance;
- Cable suspension of the hook enables more accurate positioning of the load as compared to loader cranes without cable suspension. The load is placed on the prepared surface with a minimum error thanks to the device's ability to turn the load in space and to control the lowering process by adjusting it by pulling the cable;
- Loads can be lowered in a strictly straight vertical line while rigid cranes have a curved trajectory;
- Load lowering and lifting process is very smooth;
- The telescoping sections of the Unic crane jib extend turn-by-turn to maximize the use of the load moment;
- Load can be lifted or lowered from and to behind an obstacle, e.g. a wall. a fence, or any other obstacle;
- The unit can operate loads below the ground level (i.e. found in wells, quarries, etc.);
- Unic loader cranes are lightweight and durable.
